‘Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.’ – Doctor Seuss

Sometimes the simplest yoga practices can be the most potent. Small and gentle movements, when applied with sensitivity can reap powerful changes, restoring elasticity, balance and ease. In this special intensive, Donna invites you to join her in a shared inquiry to deepen your connection with core asana, breathing, and meditative practices. These practices can form the bedrock for a sustainable (and enjoyable) yoga practice whatever your age.

The practice of yoga asana (postures) can be distilled into “seed” forms that constitute an alphabet that we can use for our own purpose and to achieve our personal goals. Through subtle adaption, variations, gradation, and creative sequencing, these simple forms can be applied in almost infinite application. Through sensing and feeling what is needed, we can learn to move into a practice by listening to what the body is already self-suggesting.

Each day of this intensive will be divided into a morning and afternoon session. We’ll explore a wide variety of practices, from active practices that build strength and vitality to more passive practices that restore calm and relaxation. Yoga practitioners of all levels of experience, from one year of consistent practice and up, are welcome to attend.

ABOUT DONNA FARHI

DONNA FARHI & MIKO

Leading yoga teacher Donna Farhi has been practising for almost 50 years and teaching since 1982. As a post-lineage pioneer, Donna has been at the forefront of generating a new model for teaching that fosters self-inquiry through the cultivation of a deepening trust in one’s own perceptions.

Through creating a warm atmosphere free of judgment and competition she invites her students to investigate their experience and to adapt and evolve their practice according to their individual needs. Incorporating the rigorous backing of anatomical principles for safe and sustainable practice, Donna offers progressive levels of engagement that allow people of all levels of experience and from all traditions to build their own authentic yoga practice.

Donna’s livestream and online courses make her expertise accessible to teachers and students worldwide and, in 2021, Donna became the first yoga teacher to present the practice of yoga to a global audience through MasterClass USA. This e-learning platform provides classes taught by some of the world’s foremost minds and experts in their fields.

Donna is the author of four contemporary classics: The Breathing Book, Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit: A Return to Wholeness, Bringing Yoga to Life: The Everyday Practice of Enlightened Living, and Teaching Yoga: Exploring the Teacher-Student Relationship which is a curricular text for teacher training worldwide. Her fifth and most recent book, co-authored with Leila Stuart, Pathways to a Centered Body: Gentle Yoga Therapy for Core Stability, Healing Back Pain and Moving with Ease is becoming the go-to text for Yoga teachers, therapists and somatic practitioners.

TESTIMONIALS FROM PREVIOUS ‘EVOLVING TOWARDS SIMPLICITY’ INTENSIVE PARTICIPANTS

“Coming from a different yoga background, Donna’s teaching felt like a breath of fresh air.  The practice was very powerful but I never felt pushed; everything felt like a kind invitation. I also discovered that I have been doing things in a way that is injuring my body. I really felt the difference after just two days: more space, more opening, more fluidity.”

– Sonia Tafaro

“What a treat it was to spend time studying in person with Donna.  It’s such a privilege to learn these practices from someone who lives them and is clearly refining them all the time.  I’m leaving with a wealth of material to nourish my personal practice and which, in time, I look forward to sharing with others.”

– Maria Dineen

For these two days I have been in the presence of one of the most knowledgable teachers today – Donna teaches to the modern human by weaving in the ancient teachings of Yoga, body work acquired through experience and her own rehabilitation, and the deep understanding of what every human faces in today’s world… Donna is so likeable, so real, and offers content in a way that is relevant. You know that you will be receiving current knowledge steeped in her own curiosity and appetite for what works. I am very grateful to have come.”

– Juliet Deaait

“Donna’s work is singular, masterful, and reflective of decades of study and self-exploration. It is this that impacts my body so immediately and so deeply. After more than 50 years of working with my own challenges and others’, this is uniquely the teacher I return to at a time in my life when I no longer take classes.  It is here that I feel trust. It is here that I feel license.”

– Diana Tokaji, C-IAYT, MSC

“I continue to find Donna’s work inspirational.  I am always astounded by the attention to detail and the care and attention that goes into each individual session.  Not a word too much, no explanation too long or too complex.  Donna finds ways to explain which directly relate to the human experience of moving, breathing and being.  I have very thankful to have finally experienced this in person.”

– Carolanne Weidele

“After working to come on one of Donna’s trainings or workshops for many years I finally got to book on. The depth of knowledge that Donna has is amazing. Add an inquisitive mind, compassionate approach and a welcoming presence. This intensive inspired me in my own practice and it is what I want to offer to others in my classes.”
