MICHAEL SAUNDERS
Yoga came late to Michael.
After leaving college, he embarked on a (very) extended Gap Year (6, actually).
He worked on various kibbutzim in Israel, hitch-hiked to Tehran (in the days when you could) and visited India and Pakistan.
These journeys were interspersed with 4 operations in hospital for a recurring back problem.
A flippant remark from a friend set him on the road to yoga .
He returned to India and studied in Bombay (as it was) and Lonavla for 2 years at the Kaivailyadharma Institute.
On returning to England, Michael started to teach and live (at various times), in London, Istanbul and Tucson, USA.
Michael teaches Classical Hatha Yoga, which includes the practice of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing practices). He believes that through focused mental application and careful attention to alignment and grounding, students can create a sense of openness and calm, leading to deeper self-awareness and personal insight.
