YOGA FOR A LIFETIME:
INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOP

THURSDAY 16TH APRIL
2.00PM – 5.30PM

£65

As we put more miles on our tyres (a more polite way of saying ‘as we age’), our trust and attention towards maintaining our balance, mobility, good posture and circulation become ever-more important. As we move through phases of our lives, our yoga longevity practice needs to evolve to respect and support these different phases. This workshop offers accessible and highly effective teachings for developing a somatics-infused yoga practice that will support you towards an active, comfortable and functionally informed life, all your life, on and off the mat.

Open to students and practitioners of all levels.

MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE:
INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOP

FRIDAY 17TH APRIL
2.30PM – 5.30PM

£60

Dynamic yoga is an essential practice. Maintaining flexibility, strength and stamina supports longevity and an active life experience. Restorative yoga offers the equally essential ingredient for optimum muscle function and form – the ability to relax our muscles. However, where we experience sensory motor amnesia (where our brain has forgotten how to relax our muscles) we can both import unhelpful postural patterns into our asana practice, and equally be unable to completely relax and restore muscles that are ‘stuck in the on position’ to one degree or another. Blending Hanna Somatics into the practice of fluid-form chi-kung inspired yoga, you will be able to experience a fresh felt-sense of fullness, spaciousness and ease within anatomically-sound asana and vinyasa, improving posture and relieving pain, muscular holding patterns and joint stiffness. The dynamic practice will be followed by the medicine of breathwork, softness, and deep relaxation in restorative stillness. (Many of the components of ‘Crouching Tiger Flying Dragon’ will be introduced within this session, thus also supporting Saturday’s workshop experience).

Open to students and practitioners of all levels.

MOVE INTO MEDITATION – ‘REVERSE ENGINEERING THE PRACTICE’: INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOP

FRIDAY 17TH APRIL
7.30PM – 9.30PM

£50

This evening workshop offers a gentle and supportive end to the week, combining movement as meditation, the release of stress-related holding patterns, and appropriate breathwork towards seated meditation. However, it is not uncommon within seated meditation to experience a distracting and sometimes frustratingly active mind, or sometimes a dull or sleepy mind. While we might be guided to simply witness our thought patterns, we can often drop into repetitive conversation with them. This workshop offers effective tools to help quiet the mind for meditation, while also teaching an approach that ‘reverse-engineers’ the practice of meditation, offering a fresh and functional meditation experience that augments, or even offers a new meditation practice, where the mind participates in the cultivation of ‘awakened beingness’ through imagination, visualisation and intention… essential components for manifestation. This approach can lead to a profoundly quiet conclusion to your ‘sit’ and a grace-infused state of being. This approach to meditation is immensely supportive and effective, offering a new understanding to ‘awakening’ within your meditation practice and your conscious day-to-day life off the mat.

Open to students and practitioners of all levels.

CROUCHING TIGER FLYING DRAGON – ‘THE SEQUEL’:
INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOP

SATURDAY 18TH APRIL
1.30PM – 5.00PM

£65

‘Crouching Tiger Flying Dragon’ seems to be one of the most popular vinyasa sequences I have ever shared and is frequently requested, perhaps because it addresses every orientation, joint and tissue in a continuously flowing sequence of up 12-15 minutes per complete cycle. It is also a sequence that has, over the years, grown in content and duration.

This flowing sequence can naturally be edited or augmented as we open up fresh neural pathways, enhancing concentration and presence. Recognising that it can be helpful to balance variation with repetition, this sequence is intended to support your self-practice memory and fresh enjoyment within breath-led movement.

This special fluid-form sequence can be enjoyed as a continuously flowing breath-led dynamic vinyasa practice, or a slower, focused all-body experience with appropriate modifications at your own preferred pace and breath-count, making it accessible to all levels, ages and moments in time. The led-practice will come to rest with my favourite and highly-recommended pranayama, followed by a fresh approach to meditation and stillness.

A free recording of the current full sequence will be made available to all participants of this workshop to support your memory of the many postures and movement patterns within this complete and flowing sequence that I am very confident you will wish to enjoy again and again in its full or edited form.

Open to students and practitioners of all levels.

SOMATICS & BREATHWORK WITHIN RESTORATIVE YOGA: INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOP

SUNDAY 19TH APRIL
1.00PM – 4.30PM

£65

While Restorative Yoga is increasingly recognised as essential therapy for all beings, bringing the mind to presence in restorative practice is often challenging as the busi-ness of mind or the disengagement into sleep or dullness dilutes the fullest potential of the practice. By incorporating Somatics and Pranayama appropriately within the practice of Restorative Yoga you can enrich and augment experience and benefit, addressing your body’s innate healing potential, energetic pathways, and para-sympathetic nervous system, while addressing sensory-motor amnesia towards a deeper level of release and relaxation.

Open to students and practitioners of all levels.

SIMON LOW

ABOUT SIMON LOW
Simon Low has been teaching yoga for over 30 years, beginning his journey under the guidance of Dr Larry Payne at Samata Garden in Los Angeles where he lived and studied after a career in the music industry in London and New York. With long-term physical conditions significantly improved along with an awakening dive into psychology and philosophy during his years in California, Simon was soon encouraged to share yoga through his own healing experience. On returning to London’s Primrose Hill in 1992 he began teaching from home, around London, and at retreats, co-founding the first triyoga studio in 2000 and later establishing the Yoga Academy where he now offers BWY Accredited teacher trainings in the UK and Spain for those who also wish to share yoga with others in an accessible, safe and effective manner.

Nowadays, Simon’s teaching is infused with the practices and wisdom of yoga, Hanna Somatics, chi kung, physical therapy and psycho-spiritual studies towards addressing the whole being. The pandemic led him to establish an online platform www.homeyoga.life with a wide range of recorded classes and weekly Zoom sessions speaking to students of all levels of fitness or yoga experience and to every stage of life. Yin & Yang in their nature, Simon’s classes shared on this platform progressively reflect these teachings.

Simon now lives in Spain at Santillan Retreat which he opened as a dedicated yoga retreat 10 years ago.
